Cody did quite well against lefthanded pitching last year. Not so this year. He just flew out against Chen. Yes, THE Wei-Yin Chen. That makes Cody 11-53 / .208 vs. southpaws so far in 2018. A .283 OB%. A .339 SLG%. 17 K's in 60 plate appearances. 28% of the time. He's batting .297 / .345 / .515 w/ 24 K's in 110 plate appearances against righties. 22% of the time. Time for a platoon? At the very least it would get his attention. We don't want this becoming the norm. Like it was with Andre for so many years.

If Cody doesn't do anything against Chen tonight I wouldn't be averse to Forsythe on third & Turner at first for the next southpaw.

A .204 batting average now has all the makings of Andre Ethier II though.

Dodgers not yet ready to send Cody Bellinger down to minors after tough start By Alec Brzezinski Published on Jun. 3, 2018 The Dodgers aren't giving up on Cody Bellinger just yet. Manager Dave Roberts told media Sunday he's not yet ready to send the struggling slugger down to Triple-A even though Bellinger entered Sunday's action slashing just 226/.300/.415 with eight home runs and 25 RBIs. "We’re not there yet," Roberts said. "Obviously we’d have to really think through it. We haven’t got to that point yet. But you can see it’s been tough sledding for him for first two months of the season." Bellinger, who had 39 home runs and 97 RBIs last season, struggled in the postseason, striking out 29 times in 64 at-bats. The 22-year-old has struggled with low and inside pitches, leading to 58 strikeouts in 212 at-bats so far in 2018. Roberts also pulled Bellinger from a game earlier this season for a perceived lack of hustle. If he's unable to turn things around soon, Roberts may be forced to send Bellinger down to the minors to get his timing right. www.baseball-reference.com/players/gl.fcgi?id=bellico01&t=b&year=2018Cody is 6-13 / .462-4-6 since then. Not sure how to take that.

June 20, 2018 12:09 pm Dodgers' Cody Bellinger: Situated on bench Wednesday by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire Bellinger is not in the lineup Wednesday against the Cubs, Eric Stephen of TrueBlueLA.com reports.
Bellinger has just one hit over his last four starts (14 at-bats), so he'll head to the bench to clear his head with a lefty (Jon Lester) toeing the rubber for the Cubs. Enrique Hernandez will start in center field and hit second in his stead.

Might be time for Doc to suggest another minor league sabbatical. Cody seems to respond well to that.

June 23, 2018 12:24 am Dodgers' Cody Bellinger: Bashes grand slam Friday by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire Bellinger went 1-for-4 with a grand slam in Friday's 5-2 win over the Mets.
His sixth-inning blast put the first runs on the board in the entire game, and gave Alex Wood and the Dodgers' bullpen all the offense they would need. Bellinger continues to struggle to hit for average, going 12-for-52 (.231) so far in June, but his five homers on the month give him 13 on the season.

.266-7-13 / .405 / .703 in 79 plate appearances so far in June.
.209 / .330 / .442 in 103 PA's on the season versus southpaws. If he could hit them even a little bit, he would be having a monster season.

If he could hit them even a little bit, he would be having a monster season. I know we used to joke about this on the other board (re: Loney), but Bell’s glove at 1B is worth the low average. HIGHLY unlikely Muncy (who threw it) digs that DP ball out off the short hop in the 8th last night. And we’ve seen Bell’s do it who knows how many times this year? Of course, with Muncy at first that inning another second baseman (Utley, etc.) may not have thrown it in the dirt. But that glove has saved LA more than a few runs and possibly games. In the words of Butwheat, I just wish he could lay off those low and outside pitches. Seems to be his kryptonite. GO DODGERS!!!

Unlike Loney, I actually believe Bellinger is a good fielder on the cusp of greatness. Sir James was overrated. His arm was surprisingly weak for a former pitcher. Cody could be a taller Keith Hernandez. Doc might insinuate he needs to work on southpaws down in the minors & we'll watch Bellinger go on a tear.

Oh yeah - I ABSOLUTELY agree regarding Loney and that Bell’s is far superior both defensively and offensively. I just thought it was funny how “some” creamed themselves over James and how many games his glove / defense alone won for us. I GUARANTEE Cody will far surpass him in both categories, even if his BA stays in the low .200’s (which I feel is highly unlikely). GO DODGERS!!!
