Diamondbacks' Eduardo Diaz: Reports to Low-A club

Diaz has appeared in four games this season for Low-A Kane County, going 2-for-15 with seven strikeouts and two stolen bases in those contests.

After spending all of April at extended spring training to receive some more hands-on coaching, Diaz made his full-season ball debut May 3. The 20-year-old outfielder, who was signed out of Venezuela as an amateur free agent in September 2015, showcased both power and speed in the Pioneer League last season and has already put the latter skill on display at Kane County. As he encounters more advanced pitching, Diaz will have to show improved plate discipline if he's to maintain his perch near the top of the organizational prospect list.

Diamondbacks' Paul Goldschmidt: Stuck in offensive rut

The Diamondbacks have gone 6-4 over the past 10 games to maintain the National League's top record, but Goldschmidt hasn't been much of a factor in any of those contests. He's recorded just three hits in 34 at-bats over that span, dropping his average to a career-low .225. Goldschmidt's elevated strikeout rate (31.5 percent) remains the primary culprit behind the depressed average, so until he displays improved contact skills, the first baseman will likely struggle to meet his preseason projections.

Diamondbacks' Shelby Miller: Will pitch simulated game Friday

Miller (elbow) is scheduled to throw two innings in an extended spring training game Friday, Jack Magruder of The Sports Xchange reports.

Miller has been throwing bullpen sessions and facing hitters in live batting practice for the better part of two weeks, and it appears the Diamondbacks are now ready to see how he fares in a game setting. It's expected that Miller will require multiple outings at extended spring training before gearing up for what will likely be an elongated minor-league rehab assignment as he looks to build up his arm following a year-plus layoff from Tommy John surgery. The Diamondbacks don't have a specific timetable for when Miller will be activated from the 60-day disabled list, but the right-hander currently seems to be trending toward a return shortly before the All-Star break.

Diamondbacks' Brad Boxberger: Slams door for save No. 11

Koch continued his success on the hill Sunday, receiving just enough run support to come away with the win. Peralta crushed his sixth home run of the season off Charlie Morton in the second inning on Saturday. Diamondbacks' Zack Greinke: Labors through 5.2 innings

Greinke had to work hard to get through the Astros lineup, needing 102 pitches to complete 5.2 innings. However, the results were strong as he allowed seven baserunners with the only run coming on a solo home run by George Springer. He has allowed four or more earned runs in three of his seven starts this season, but his 47:6 K/BB ratio indicates he is pitching well and that better results should continue as the season goes on.

Dodgers' Brock Stewart: Sent back to Triple-A

Stewart will head back to the minors in order to clear a roster spot for Tuesday's starter, Rich Hill (finger), who was activated from the 10-day disabled list in a corresponding move. The 26-year-old owns a 2.41 ERA across four starts (18.2 innings) with Oklahoma City this season. He'll remain one of the team's top options for a promotion when additional bullpen help -- or potentially a spot starter -- is needed in the future.

Dodgers' Rich Hill: Activated ahead of start

Hill (finger) was reinstated from the 10-day disabled list Tuesday and will start against the Diamondbacks, J.P. Hoornstra of the Los Angeles Daily News reports.

As expected, Hill is set to return to the mound after spending the past three weeks on the DL with a finger issue.
