Dodgers' Matt Kemp: Belts fifth homer Saturday

Kemp went 3-for-4 with a homer and two RBI in Saturday's loss to the Padres.

Kemp put the Dodgers on the board with his solo shot in the second inning, and he added another RBI with a single in the third. The veteran outfielder has now collected a hit in four straight games, raising his batting average from .300 to .330 in that stretch.

Dodgers' Kenta Maeda: Fans seven in no-decision Saturday

Maeda allowed three runs on four hits and a walk across five innings in a no-decision Saturday against the Padres. He struck out seven.

Maeda struggled out of the gate Saturday, serving up a leadoff triple to Travis Jankowski before Eric Hosmer brought them both home with a two-run homer in the next at-bat. He settled in from there, however, retiring the next three batters and allowing just one run on two hits and a walk over the next four innings. Maeda is striking out batters at a career-best rate (11.8 K/9), but he's only completed six innings twice this season and his 4.02 ERA and 1.40 WHIP are nothing to write home about. A home start against the Reds is next on the docket.

Dodgers' Ross Stripling: Set to start Sunday

Stripling will start Sunday against the Padres, Pedro Moura of The Athletic Los Angeles reports.

With the game being played in Monterrey, Mexico, the Dodgers are apparently worried about the humidity bothering Rich Hill's balky finger, so they're opting to keep the veteran on the shelf for a little while longer while Stripling steps into the rotation for another spot start. The 28-year-old allowed four runs on eight hits across four innings in a losing effort in his previous spot start. With Hill confirming he didn't suffer a setback, it's safe to assume he'll rejoin the Dodgers' rotation during the team's upcoming homestead, which should push Stripling back to the bullpen.

Dodgers' Rich Hill: Won't start Sunday

Hill (finger) has been scratched from Sunday's start against the Padres, Pedro Moura of The Athletic Los Angeles reports.

Hill is on the 10-day disabled list with a finger issue. He was expected to return to the mound for Sunday's series finale, but the Dodgers are worried about the humidity -- the game is being played in Monterrey, Mexico -- so Ross Stripling will get the ball instead. No setback has been reported at this point, and Hill said he's "good to go," according to Pedro Moura of The Athletic Los Angeles, so it sounds like he'll be ready to pitch during the team's upcoming series against the Diamondbacks.

Dodgers' Corey Seager: Tommy John surgery successful

Seager (elbow) had successful Tommy John surgery Friday, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.

Seager is expected to make a full recovery, but won't get to prove it until next year, as he's already been ruled out for the season. Chris Taylor should receive the majority of starts at shortstop for the remainder of the season.

Dodgers' Walker Buehler: Will remain in rotation

Buehler will remain in the Dodgers' starting rotation, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.

Buehler was up originally as just an injury fill-in, but after throwing six innings of no-hit ball Friday against the Padres he's now viewed as a permanent member of the rotation. Through 16 innings so far this season, the young righty has a 1.13 ERA. His 11.1 percent walk rate is a bit high, but he more than makes up for it with a stellar strikeout rate (30.2 percent) and groundball rate (63.9 percent). His innings total could be a concern, as he threw just 98 innings last year, but with the Dodgers already six games back of the Diamondbacks in the NL West, that's a problem they'll have to wait to address.
