Kenta Maeda, RHP

Maeda's last start came against the Giants on Sunday, when he gave up four runs over six innings. He recorded four walks and three strikeouts over 96 pitches. The Dodgers were defeated, 4-2, and Maeda took the loss.

Bryan Mitchell, RHP

The Padres aren’t ready to give up on Mitchell’s chances as a starter. With a WHIP nearing 2 and a K-rate at 10 percent, he isn’t fooling many hitters. But he feels as though he turned a corner in his last two starts, even if the results haven’t.

Taylor went 1-for-4 with a solo home run, a walk and two runs as the Dodgers topped the Padres 4-0 on Friday.

Taylor helped provide the offense as the Dodgers pitchers no-hit San Diego, launching his fifth homer of the season in the second inning off Joey Lucchesi. He's still got an underwhelming .232/.282/.428 slash line coming off his breakout campaign last year but he's been hitting better lately, so it's possible that he was just off to a slow start and he'll continue to heat up as he logs more at-bats.

Dodgers' Walker Buehler: Throws six innings of combined no-hitter for Dodgers

Buehler (2-0) combined with his bullpen to no-hit the Padres on Friday, striking out eight and walking three before departing after six innings as the Dodgers topped San Diego 4-0.

It was a historic night for Buehler and his relievers as the 23-year-old right-hander spearheaded the team to its first combined no-hitter in franchise history. He was only starting the game after he was called up to the minors due to Hyun-Jin Ryu going on the disabled list but his overall body of work in his time in the big leagues has been extremely impressive so far this season, as the no-hit outing lowered his ERA to 1.13 and his WHIP to 1.06 through 16 innings to go along with 19 strikeouts. It's obviously still a small sample size but he's certainly making quite the case that he deserves to be thought of as more than injury stopgap and that he belongs at the big-league level.

Dodgers' Julio Urias: May throw off mound soon

Urias (shoulder) said Thursday he hopes to throw off the mound "in the near future," Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.

Urias had his throwing program interrupted to undergo tonsil surgery in early April, but he now appears back on track in his recovery from last June's shoulder surgery. The Dodgers still seems to be targeting July for the 21-year-old's return.

Dodgers' Justin Turner: Still on track for mid-May return

Manager Dave Roberts still thinks that Turner (wrist) will return from the disabled list in the next couple weeks, Pedro Moura of The Athletic Los Angeles reports.

This is an optimistic timeline, as Turner has yet to embark on a rehab assignment and he's missed nearly a month and a half to this point. Regardless, this likely means that the third baseman hasn't encountered any setbacks, though a firmer timetable should emerge once he actually gets back into game action.

Dodgers' Edward Paredes: Sent back to OKC

Paredes was optioned to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Friday.

Paredes will head back to the minors after logging just one appearance for the big-league squad, albeit a scoreless one. This move clears a roster spot for Walker Buehler, Friday's scheduled starter. Paredes could be back in the majors soon if he continues to build off the 1.86 ERA he has at Triple-A, though.

Dodgers' Breyvic Valera: Returns to majors as 26th man

Valera was recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Friday to act as the Dodgers' 26th man for their series with the Padres in Mexico.

As expected, Valera will head back to the majors to provide infield depth off the bench while the team is across the border. He doesn't figure to log much playing time this weekend and will likely be sent right back to the minors following the series' conclusion.

Padres' Manuel Margot: Not starting Saturday

Margot is out of the lineup Saturday against the Dodgers.

Margot has struggled at the plate so far this season, hitting a meager .176/.220/.282 through 21 games. He can blame a .209 BABIP for some of those struggles, though there have also been changes to his contact profile. His line drive rate has fallen from 23.2 percent to 17.6 percent, while his groundball rate has spiked from 40.5 percent to 48.5 percent. He's also seen a jump in his infield flyball rate, up from 9.4 percent to 17.4 percent. On the plus side, though, his hard-hit rate has jumped from 25.4 percent to 32.4 percent, so there are reasons to believe he'll turn things around. Travis Jankowski will start in center field Saturday.

Padres' Joey Lucchesi: Falls to 3-2 with loss against Dodgers

Lucchesi (3-2) got hit with the loss against the Dodgers on Friday, giving up three earned runs on five hits over five innings, striking out five and walking three in San Diego's 4-0 defeat.

Lucchesi pitched fairly well in this one but he was afforded no run support as San Diego's offense was no-hit by a combination of Dodgers' starter Walker Buehler and three relievers. The 24-year-old has been throwing it well all season and he's now sporting a 3.13 ERA and a 1.18 WHIP through 37.1 innings. He'll look to continue that strong form in his next start against the Nationals on Wednesday.

Padres' Austin Hedges: Resting for 7-to-10 days

Hedges (elbow) will rest for 7-to-10 days before possibly resuming activity, Dennis Lin of The Athletic San Diego reports.

This essentially rules out Hedges from returning to action after the minimum stay on the disabled list. If he's not feeling better at the end of the rest period, he will undergo further testing on his ailing elbow. Look for an update on his status next week.
