Dodgers' Walker Buehler: Set to replace Ryu in rotation
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire
Buehler will replace Hyun-Jin Ryu (groin) in the starting rotation, J.P. Hoornstra of the Los Angeles Daily News reports.
With Ryu expected to be sidelined into the second half of the season, the Dodgers will turn to Buehler to fill the void in their rotation. The 23-year-old, who is scheduled to start Friday against the Padres in Monterrey, Mexico, has already made a pair of starts for the big-league club this season, posting a 1.80 ERA and 11:4 K:BB across 10 innings. According to J.P. Hoornstra of the Los Angeles Daily News, Buehler may not pitch every fifth day with the Dodgers looking to limit his innings, but it sounds like he should be afforded semi-regular turns in the rotation while Ryu is on the shelf.

Could be a blessing in disguise. The Dodgers have no choice but to unleash this kid and see what he's got.

Saw an interesting tidbit: There have been 3 no-hitters so far and each one has been tossed in a different country. That's cool. There was some talk on board about expansion. The more I think about a team in Mexico, the better I like it.

The more I think about a team in Mexico, the better I like it. During one of the Mexican games, the announcers had one of the MLB big-wigs in the booth for an inning. One of the things he talked about was their focus on on adding two teams, soon.

June 26, 2018 8:42 pm Dodgers' Walker Buehler: Bullpen session Thursday by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire Buehler (ribs) will throw another bullpen session Thursday, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.
Buehler completed his first bullpen session Sunday and had a pain-free session Tuesday as he works his way back from a right-rib microfracture. There remains no official timeline for the young right-hander's return, but manager Dave Roberts indicated the team could briefly operate with a six-man starting rotation once he is activated, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.

Ferris might not be quite ready yet. I definitely agree with that. He’s far from ready judging from today’s debacle...

June 29, 2018 10:15 pm Dodgers' Walker Buehler: Optioned to High-A by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire Buehler has been optioned to High-A Rancho Cucamonga, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.
Buehler did not look ready to return Thursday, when he allowed five runs in one inning of work against the Cubs. The plan will likely be for Buehler to stretch out at Rancho Cucamonga, and after a few starts in which he can get his pitch count back to where it needs to be -- assuming he performs as expected -- he can come back to the majors. Buehler will need to spend at least 10 days in the minors, so expect a return in mid-to-late July. Expect a corresponding move to be announced before Saturday night's game.
