This guy has been a trade target for many. A guy who has never lived up to his potential.
2018 YTD: 2-1, 6.61 ERA, 1.592 WHIP, a league leading 41 hits allowed in only 32 IP. 6 HRs allowed already.
2016 and 2017 combined: 19-31, ERA over 4.00, WHIP about 1.25
The guy is durable, has electric stuff, velocity mid to high 90s. Yet he just can't win. At 29 years old it seems it's not going to happen for Archer.

I wouldn't trade for him. Don't really get the hype on him. He's never had a season with an ERA under 3 and gives up too many homers. He's given up 63 homers since the start of 2016. I know he pitches against those heavy AL East lineups and small ballparks, but holly smokes that's bad. With Colorado and Arizona in the division, don't see how that doesn't get better. I would like the Dodgers to look at getting a pitcher, but Archer is not that guy.

Don't really get the hype on him. Strikeouts. Too much emphasis nowadays is placed on strikeouts & radar guns. There have been many fine pitch to contact hurlers in the past. There are fielders for a reason. Men on first & second with one out. Which is better? A guy who can induce a DP with maybe three pitches? Or two strikeouts that may take ten pitches? Of course we don't have to worry about the guy on second stealing third because hardly anyone runs anymore.
