I think Kenley looks heavy/out of shape/non-athletic. He's stiff on the mound. Get him some heat and run him. He does look alittle heavy to me but maybe that’s just me, it also seems his troubles started in the WS, he was magnificent until then. He’s a pro and got good people around him and they will fix him 👍

You've said this a number of times regarding both Jansen and CK, but just because they don't rely on blowing batters away doesn't mean a decrease in velocity won't hurt them. At some point (albeit, clearly not at 91MPH), if CKs speed keeps decreasing, his offspeed pitches will be less effective. 91MPH doesn't concern me, but mid-high 80s does. Same goes for Jansen. I'm willing to believe if he can get his cutter moving again, he can be effective at a slower rate. But at what speed will it decrease its effectiveness? I'm not sure. Both of those guys are not going to get faster. So I'm just hoping they age well and the drop in speed isn't too fast too soon.

But who is in the 80s? And who says they will be in the 80s anytime soon?

But who is in the 80s? And who says they will be in the 80s anytime soon? The point is that even if you don't rely on blowing batters away, speed matters. It's not necessarily the be all and end all, but it does matter and a drop in velocity can be a concern.

Mechanical, yes but could those problems be brought about, psychosomatically via events of last years World Series faux-pas. Theses thoughts very well could be manifesting itself in the here and now with Jansen and If he is thinking about that, even subconsciously, it will cause as stress is a funny thing, it can lead to muscle tightness, which is affected by long-term anxiety, ... just my 2! I've thought this myself. This reminds me of Brad Lidge. Once a dominant closer, then gave up a massive bomb to Pujols in the 05 NLCS. Astros made the World Series, but Lidge was messed up from the HR. Other than his perfect 2008, he really wasn't the same again. The two seasons before 2008 were brutal. He just looked lost out on the mound. I'm not saying that's the issue with Kenley, but it's something to think about. If it truly is between the ears, the Dodgers could really be in trouble, because that's much harder to fix than anything physical or mechanical. As Kenley maybe more the out of shape Physically but Mentally ... I do hope we are both wrong about this since mental problems are far more complex and stay with you no matter what you do and say, which is something that KJ has to wrestle with. This is one time that it is good to over think the process to provide analysis from all angles, however the best therapy would be acknowledging the problem of the past, and throwing to live batters consistently and getting them OUT is the only therapy works as Kenley tries to regain his laser focus that so prevalent last year. Viva Los Dodgers

Luckily after tonight it is clear the velocity is also still there. He hit 96 tonight. His issue was mechanical it appears. The other day he said it had to do with his landing spot not being consistent.

I had my doubts I will admit after Jansen's outing against the Padres. He was once again hitting 89. I was afraid he had an injury he was hiding. It was awesome to see the version of Kenley I have become use to return tonight. He also kept the movement he wasn't just throwing harder.
