And there's been crickets around the talk show circuit about Kapler since his Phillies have gone 9-2 since the bad 1-5 start. Go figure . . . people jumping the gun based on small sample size...

You gotta feel for the guy, considering the band of misfits he has been stuck with - it’s basically a roster of AA & AAA players as Bob Castellini had a few too many lunches with Uncle Mikey Brown who pretty much convinced him the product on the field doesn’t matter. It’s all about the concessions, merchandising and TV contracts and Bob has certainly obliged by dumping every player he inherited with the exception of Votto who he signed to a contract nobody wanted to take on. I bet I couldn’t name more than five or six on their roster. Other than Homer Bailey, not one other pitcher, starter or bullpen. Price has pretty much been a lame duck for the last few seasons and I guess somebody had to “take the fall” for their performance, even though he hasn’t had squat to work with in his tenure. I was actually surprised he got another year after last season, but I guess there wasn’t anybody that wanted to come here knowing The Redlegs are quite a ways from contending and the “frugalness” of the current majority owner. GO DODGERS!!!! |
