Wong was drafted in the 3rd round last summer from the University of Houston. He was primarily a catcher in college and that is how he has played since being drafted, but he also played some 3B and OF at Houston so he fits the mold of the Dodgers front office's philosophy of versatility. He's small for a catcher (5'11" and under 200) and there's some question whether he'll be able to catch full time, but even if not he is good enough to play elsewhere defensively. And he is a good defensive catcher.
He's always had a good bat. The power is a bit of a small sample size aberration, but he's not punchless. He slugged .494 as a college Junior before he was drafted and hit well last season after he was signed as well with a .495 SLG in the Midwest League. That might not sound like great power, but considering the Midwest League is known as a pitcher league it's actually quite good. Wong posted a .217 ISO (comp. - Grandal = .212 / Taylor = .208 last season) and a 132 OPS+ last season, so he was WELL above average for the league.
Ruiz is the class of the catching position in the system (if not baseball) and Smith is the standout defensive backstop in the system (if not baseball) who will have a good career based on that alone. Wong slots in right behind them at this point, but has the talent and potential to also have a good career at the major league level. The question will be whether he can physically stand up to the position on a full time basis.
I could see that trio being much like the present trio of Grandal, Barnes, and Farmer. Ruiz as the primary starter and offensive power; Smith as the backup (albeit without the versatility Barnes brings); Wong as the 3rd catcher/super utility like Farmer.

Here's an oldie for your music thread..."If loving you is Wong, I don't wanna be White.' I'll post it, and it's everyone's thread, I'm just the custodian. :)

Wong hit another HR last night. He now has 6 HR and is batting .364. He's a pretty thin kid too. About 6'1" 180 pounds. This is last season in college. Attachments:

Then again, Barnes is 5'10" and 190.

Yeah, but he doesn't hit HRs like this kid is right now....
He's striking out a bit, guessing he has a big swing... ??

I don't know about the swing. Haven't read anything nor seen any video of his swing.
Have read that he has good plate discipline, but a lack of any noticeable bat speed. He's got some work to do both offensively and defensively, but he's got athleticism and talent and a strong arm.
