Hyun-Jin Ryu. There was probably more concern about this guy than any of our starting pitchers. I thought he showed a lot of improvement as the 2017 season progressed. He had to build up arm strength.

89.9 mph on his fastball. He maxed out at 91.9. 90.0 on the 2 seamer. That maxed out at 91.0 mph. 89.9 on his four seamer. Maxed out at 91.2.

91.9 on his fastball. Maxed out at 94.1. Threw a lot of changeups & cutters too.
How's he doing this year?

Still early in the season. Everyone's velocity seems to be down a bit right now. But it's still a better start than last year. 91.0 mph on his fastball. Max of 92.8. He throws a pretty hard sinker. 90.0 mph with a max of 91.4. His cutter averages 87.9 with a max of 89.5.
The most important thing is how this translates to performance. In that regard Ryu has been outstanding. Especially for a back of the rotation starter. He had a rough first outing & has quietly righted the ship in his ensuing two starts since then. His numbers are 2-0 / 2.87 ERA, 0.96 WHIP w/ 19 K's in 15.2 innings. 10.9 K's per 9.0 innings. So far he's been the second best pitcher in our rotation. Not Wood. Not Hill. Ryu. He has a base salary of 7 million dollars. Quite a bargain.
