Wow, what a wealth of starters! And it seems that Kershaw's shoulder injury isn't just one of those spring training things. I'd put Urias in the rotation, and even if he doesn't cut it, Stripling, Ferguson or Ferguson could step up. I have high hopes for Santana & Ferguson. I'm reasonably certain Urias & Stripling can contribute right away.

Dodgers' Cody Bellinger: Cranks three-run homer
Rotowire 13H ago
Bellinger went 1-for-2 with a home run and three RBI in Thursday's game against Colorado.
Bellinger was dealing with back soreness at the start of camp, but his back looked just fine when he sent a two-run shot soaring over the center-field fence in the fifth inning. He's expected to be just fine for Opening Day unless he suffers a major setback.

Dodgers' Kenley Jansen: Spring debut set
Rotowire 22H ago
Jansen will make his Cactus League debut Sunday against the Rangers, Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times reports.
Jansen came away from a live bullpen session with no issues Thursday, clearing the way for the reliever to make his spring debut over the weekend. The 31-year-old has been slow-played thus far in camp as the Dodgers exercise caution following his offseason heart surgery, but Jansen is still fully expected to be ready for the start of the season.

Dodgers' Corey Seager: Plays in minor league game
Rotowire Mar 1, 2019
Seager served as the designated hitter in a minor-league camp game Friday, Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times reports. "It was a good day for him," manager Dave Roberts said.
Seager took four at-bats and ran the bases in what was his first game action since undergoing operations on his hip and elbow. While he didn't play defense, the shortstop extended his throwing program out to 150 feet; Roberts said he "really let it go" during the session. Seager remains on track for Opening Day.

Dodgers' Walker Buehler: Still building up slowly
Rotowire Mar 1, 2019
Buehler continues to build up slowly in camp but is expected to be ready to go by Opening Day, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.
The Dodgers appear to be treating Buehler very cautiously after his innings jumped from 98 to 177 (including the postseason) last year. With little reason to waste his likely still-limited innings on preseason games, Buehler still has two bullpen sessions and a live batting practice session to go before he gets into game action. The team's approach could foretell careful management throughout the season, but the fact that Buehler remains uninjured is still a positive.

Dodgers news: Hill ‘feels great’, Seager making great progress
By BlakeHarris@BlakeHHarris Mar 1, 2019, 3:16pm PST
Rich Hill made his second appearance of the spring on Thursday. Hill threw 2 1⁄3 innings, striking out two and allowing two unearned runs.
“I felt great,” Hill said following his outing. “Ball came out of my hand a lot better than the first outing. Every time I get out there I feel like I’m getting stronger. The curve ball was really good. Overall, it was a really good start.”
Though Hill only faced 10 batters, he felt he could have easily thrown 100 pitches. “I’ve built myself up to that this off-season,” he said. “The purpose behind that was to be ready right out of the gate when the season starts.”
Hill hopes to be able to throw four to five innings in his next outing.

Why do I get the impression Kershaw is avoiding an MRI? What would it hurt to find out? It's about the meds. Anti-Inflammatory meds render the MRI inconclusive. So if you want to get a clear and accurate scan you have to take him off the anti-inflammatory cocktail for a couple of days. Looks to me like they would rather spend more time on the meds and see if that helps first. If it is a serious problem, waiting to get the scan is not going to change anything. But if it is just the standard soreness most pitchers get waking up their pitching motion again, more time on the meds could make a difference.

I agree with everything but it not changing things. If he's throwing with a serious injury it seems as though he could make it worse.

Denis Satana impressed again! He walked a hitter, allowed a SB then a wild pitch, and then he K'd the side like he did a few games ago! He did allow a solo homer next inning, but if there's a 7th starter behind Urias it seems to be him. I have a friend who made it to AAA as a pitcher and asked him to critique Santana and he said he has a live arm, but is still more of a thrower than a pitcher at the MLB level. We'll all be tracking his progress at AAA.

Dodgers' Hyun-Jin Ryu: Adding another pitch
Rotowire 23H ago
Ryu is working on adding a slider to his pitch mix, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.
Ryu threw a slider early on in his career, though he phased the pitch out over the past two seasons in favor of a cutter. The southpaw is planning to reintroduce the pitch in 2019, adding it to a repertoire that already features a fastball, cutter, curveball and changeup. Ryu has yet to test the pitch out this spring, though that hasn't stopped him from impressing early on -- he fired another two scoreless innings in Friday's game against the Padres, allowing two hits while striking out two.

Dodgers' Russell Martin: Sidelined with back soreness
2D ago
Martin is dealing with back soreness, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.
Martin apparently overworked himself in the batting cage earlier in the week, which explains why he hasn't taken the field since Tuesday's game against the Royals. The veteran backstop downplayed the severity of the issue, noting that he would probably play through it during the regular season. "If it was [during] the season, I probably wouldn't miss time," said Martin. He's expected to sit out several more days before getting back into the swing of things.

Dodgers' Edwin Rios: Expected back Sunday
Rotowire 1D ago
Rios (illness) is expected to return to game action Sunday against the Rangers, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.
Rios has missed a handful of days with an illness. He'll still have plenty of time to build up to speed by Opening Day, though he's unlikely to spend that day on the big-league roster.

Dodgers' Corey Seager: Awaiting full clearance
Rotowire 37M ago
Seager will serve as designated hitter in a minor-league spring game Monday, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.
Seager returned to game action for a minor-league contest Friday and is set for another four at-bats Monday. According to Plunkett, he 24-year-old will also run the bases but has yet to be cleared to play defense. As of Friday, his throwing program had progressed to 150 feet.
