Dave Roberts said Urias coming out of the bullpen was because his role would be in long relief to start the season. #Dodgers

@kengurnick
Roberts said he’s confident Max Muncy will pull out of his slump at the plate because of his ability to stay within the strike zone.

@pedromoura Hyun-Jin Ryu is in line to start opening day, Dave Roberts said.
He also said they could still pivot to Rich Hill. Going with Ryu in Game 1 and Hill in Game 2 would give them both extra rest.

With Brad Miller opting out, it looks more likely that Alex Verdugo makes his first @mlb Opening Day roster. Roberts said team was trending that way.

Dodgers' Rich Hill: Likely to pitch second game Rotowire 10H ago
Hill is likely to make his debut in the second game of the season, Pedro Moura of The Athletic reports.
Hill will make his debut against the Diamondbacks, following Hyun-Jin Ryu, who is in line to start Opening Day. Hill has pitched well this spring, logging 11 innings and striking out 11. Perhaps most importantly, he has suffered no serious injuries and appears to be healthy heading into the regular season.

Dodgers' Joc Pederson: Expected to return Friday
Rotowire 12H ago
Pederson (back) is expected to be in the lineup Friday, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.
Pederson exited Thursday's spring game early due to a back spasm, but manager Dave Roberts said he expects him to return to the lineup Friday. Locked into a battle for playing time with Alex Verdugo, Pederson is hitting just .167 but does have three home runs in 42 at-bats.

J.D. Martinez on Craig Wallenbrock and Dodgers hitting coach Robert Van Scoyoc: “I’ve had it out with several coaches along the way, and I’ve said it: ‘I learned more from two guys who never played the game than six years in professional baseball.’"

I don't know about garbage. He's a highly useful utilityman. But I'm rooting for Verdugo.

@jonheyman
Three Red Sox players have said they won’t attend White House visit May 9 (Betts, Devers, JBJ; I asked Betts and JBJ and they confirmed they won’t go), and there will be more — tho word is many are going (“more than you’d think (are going),” said 1 player who hadn’t decided) ------------------------------------------------------------ This is the reason this racism shit doesn't go away! In my opinion.
