It took until 10:00 PM till I realized the only non-white people here are the waiters & DJ.
So this is what growing up in a bubble is like.

My boss is at it again.
He calls me into his office & says I was $244.00 short last night.
"No way! Even if I mistook a ten for a hundred, it wouldn't account for that. Plus, the ten would be mixed in with the hundreds."
"I'm just telling you what happened."
"I sold 1,037.00 last night."
That took him by surprise. I'm not supposed to know these things. I can count.
"Yeah. The register said twelve hundred & something."
He couldn't do the math that fast. I was already thinking $1,281.00.
"I'm just letting you know. DON'T go anywhere else with this. I'll explain it to accounting somehow. DON'T talk to anyone else."
The last time I took him to HR.
Me - "Say it must have been an overring."
Him - "That's what I'll do."
Analysis: He took $244.00. He was covering his tracks by talking to me first. There was no write-up. Nothing was signed. Push comes to shove, we'll go back to the system I rammed down his throat years ago. We both count & sign for the bank in the presence of the other. In & out.
He left himself exposed by not writing me up. But he had to know what would come next. He had no choice.
I was tipped $154.00 & thought it was a pretty good shift. But he did much better. From home too.

Before today's event began, I stepped away from the register. Turned it off & took the key with me. When I got back, he asked me where the register key was. That made me helluva suspicious. It was a hosted bar. Would this asshole ring up a sale while I wasn't there? Why else would he be asking where the key is now? Yeah. Why are you messing with the register?
Later he asked me if I had told the customer what the tab was.
"No. They didn't ask."
"Even if they ask, don't tell them. Tell them you don't know."
"Leaving a little room to pad the bill?"
"Yeah. Just don't tell them."
It was $514.00. They had a limit of $1,000.00. I made sure to ring it out before giving him the register back. Anything he adds will be separate. He knows I know how much was sold. Not that I can prove it. Those registers don't even have journal feed tapes. But at least he knows I know. There was no money for him to steal. He was just padding the bill.
Which means he rang up $244.00 from the night before.
He fucked up when I told him how much I sold. He wasn't sure how I knew. He could have said there wasn't that much in the drawer. He went the other way with it & said there were sales rung up of "twelve hundred & something." He couldn't do the math that fast.
He's really bad at this. No wonder he needs his cousin back.

I've figured out how to bust him. As sleazy as he is, I still don't want to do that. Dude has been there forever. But what I have planned will give me tremendous leverage. He'll be my bestest friend & strongest supporter. And there isn't a thing he can do to prevent it. MU-HA-HA-HA-HA!!

My boss is funny in ways he doesn't even realize. I missed a shift today. He emailed me & tried to call me Thursday afternoon. I didn't notice the emails & left my phone in the truck by accident. I noticed at the end of last night's game. I figured it would be too late. But there's an obligation to respond. I called him too. He said it was indeed too late. He had given the shift to someone in the bistro. I know who that must be. A kid they just hired. My boss wants to groom him to replace me. He was supposed to stick by me the last shift, but disappeared. Fine. I don't have to tip him. The shift sounded lame. 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Sounds like old ladies. A lot of wine. I wonder how the kid will do. He didn't even stick around long enough to learn how to run the cash register. My boss is going to be glued to him. Let's see how this plays out. There was another email today, reminding me of a shift on Friday. It came in at 3:35. 35 minutes after today's shift ended. That's how sure my boss wanted to be I would show up. His Machiavellian stuff backfires all the time.

Saw the doctor. My BP was 106/69. Weighed 188 lbs. According to those outdated charts, I could still stand to lose about 20 lbs. There's no way that's happening. I won't allow it. That's emaciated. They looked at my eyes. 40/20 in both. (The eye doctors had said 25/20.). 20/20 combined. But there was a line I couldn't read with my left eye. I knocked it right out with my right eye. I should be able to pass my drivers' license exam. Based on today's results, anyway.
I'm not paying that eye surgeon. There's a letter ready to mail out Saturday. It says there will be no more good faith payments made until I hear back from you by the date of this letter. Not if you're going to charge me & tack on interest anyway. Deal with the doctor. Please. And don't try sending contractors after me. Like the letter I received March 27th from the anesthesiologist. Don't try billing me for the facility. Nurses. Gauze. That would be harassment.

Those height and weight charts ARE ridiculous. At 6’3”, I should be in the 180 - 190 range, which I WAS, 45 years ago in HIGH SCHOOL! But bodies change and grow naturally and I’d be anorexic at that weight these days. I’m comfortable at around 260, but ideally 240 - 245 would be better for me health wise. The Norditrac is starting to help, but I’ve still got a ways to go. It’s funny - my left eye is actually 20 / 10, but my right probably isn’t even 20 / 40. My laser doc said they have to do it that way sometimes to even up the overall vision to 20 / 20. I don’t have another drivers license test for a couple more years, but I’m sure when they switch to just the right eye I’m gonna be squinting like Clint Eastwood. GO DODGERS!!!

So he got his cousin to cover that shift I missed. I bet he came on himself at the prospect. I got him to admit they sold $45.00. HA-HA-HA!! Wait. Maybe they sold $245.00 & just cut up the rest. No. It was hosted. There was no cash. My boss has already proven he pads the bill. So they didn't even sell $45.00.
Too funny.

Mas trabajo today. Let me know how the game goes. Hopefully better than last night. Paxton and his 24 BB -vs- 22 K’s is going to have to be on his A game. I said earlier the key to the Reds is keeping Ely off the bases. He torched them several times last year and last night was a complete embarrassment. Everybody in MLB knows he can’t hit the offspeed and curve. Both the Snakes and Gnats shut him down only throwing high and unhittable fastballs when pitchers were way ahead in counts. So what does LA do? Feed his a steady diet of fastballs every AB which he took full advantage of. 4 - 4 with a BB and 4 - 5 in SB is NOT gonna cut it. I was actually amazed Barnes was able to throw him out the one time he did - but it took a perfect throw right on the base to do so. I never even heard of a single pitcher the Reds used last night. Bunch of scrub AAA kids that made our fearsome top three look like chumps. Guess the betting apps & Vegas were smiling ear to ear. GO DODGERS!!!

$145.00 in tips on about $1,200.00 in sales. A funeral. They were all Dodger fans. I was in heaven.
