The Padres are 21-30 / .412 & have been anchoring last place in the NL West all season. They're just 5.5 games out in an under-performing division though. They're fresh off dropping 2 of 3 to the Nationals. They scored a grand total of 6 runs in that 3 game set. Which, other than the 1st game, maybe says something about their pitching. They're 7-4 over their last 11 games. The final 7 in that period were road games. They were 4-3 on the road in those road games. The Sun shines on every dog's butt at least once a day.

Margot has sat out three of the Padres' last six contests as part of a crowded outfield rotation. The 23-year-old has gone just 2-for-13 at the plate over that span, but he has also contributed a pair of steals to help alleviate the pain for his fantasy owners. It is unclear how things will shake up once Wil Myers (oblique) returns from the disabled list next month, but Margot should still receive semi-regular playing time until that time comes.

Padres' Brad Hand: Notches 15th save

Hand picked up his 15th save Wednesday, pitching 1.2 scoreless innings with two strikeouts while allowing two hits against the Nationals.

Hand was called upon for his first five-out save of the season, and it nearly backfired. He got through the end of the eighth without incident, but then allowed a double and single to leadoff the ninth inning before working out of the jam with a strikeout and game-ending double play. The lefty remains a reliable option at closer, boasting a 2.08 ERA and ranking second in the NL with 15 saves.

Padres' Tyson Ross: Strikes out nine in win

Ross (4-3) got the win Wednesday, striking out nine over 6.2 innings while allowing one run on five hits and a walk against the Nationals.

The only mark on Ross' ledger was a Matt Adams solo home run to lead off the seventh inning, but otherwise the 31-year-old was in total command. He induced 18 swings-and-misses en route to striking out nine to run his K/9 up to 9.5. Ross has picked up a quality start four times in five May starts -- allowing two runs or fewer in all -- and will take a tidy 3.13 ERA into his next start Tuesday against the Marlins.

Dodgers' Kenta Maeda: Dominant in win

Maeda was in fine form Wednesday, inducing 19 swinging strikes and not allowing a hit until the fifth inning. This comes on the heels of his dominant eight-inning shutout performance against the Marlins on May 17. The 30-year-old lowered his ERA to 3.38 through 10 starts, but more notably, the righty is striking out a career-best 11.7 batters per nine innings. Maeda will look to build on his current hot streak in his next turn against the Phillies next Monday.

Dodgers' Julio Urias: Throws off mound

Urias (shoulder) threw off a mound earlier this week for the first time since undergoing anterior capsule surgery on his throwing shoulder last year, Daniel Starkland of Dodger Blue reports.

The recovery process has been a long one for the talented prospect, but manager Dave Roberts still believes Urias can return in the second half of this season. There is no telling how the Dodgers' starting rotation will look at that point, so the 21-year-old could find himself getting back to speed in the minors or coming out of the bullpen in the majors once he is cleared to return to game action. Urias still has plenty of steps to undergo in the recovery process, but dynasty owners have to be pleased that his shoulder is progressing as scheduled.

Dodgers' Rich Hill: Still expected to miss four weeks

Hill (finger) threw another bullpen session Wednesday, but manager Dave Roberts said he's still expecting the veteran to miss around four weeks, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports. "I don't know Rich's plan," the manager said. "I'm still going to stick with my 4 weeks to get him back into a big league game."

Hill has thrown for three straight days -- with medical tape on his finger -- despite landing on the disabled list with a blister over the weekend. He's petitioned the league to allow him to wear the medical tape in games, which would allow him to return sooner, but it's not yet known if MLB will allow it. Either way, Hill is hoping his continued throwing will help him return before his initial four-week timetable, though his manager is less optimistic.

Dodgers' Clayton Kershaw: Sim game scheduled for Saturday

Kershaw (biceps) is scheduled to throw a simulated game Saturday, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.

Kershaw was able to get through a bullpen session with no issues Wednesday -- saying he felt healthy after throwing for longer than was originally planned -- so he'll continue to ramp up his throwing program over the weekend. If all goes well during Saturday's simulated outing, the ace could be cleared to embark on a minor-league rehab assignment shorty thereafter (assuming one is deemed necessary).

Hill will likely require around four more weeks until he can get back into a big-league game, but it's positive news that he's been able to continue pitching. The Dodgers' ace is set for a significant workload in his first exposure to live hitters since landing on the DL. Dodgers' Andrew Toles: Still not ready for games

Toles recently aggravated his hamstring injury, which first popped up in mid-April, as he attempted to ramp up his activity.
