Los Angeles Dodgers @ San Francisco Giants Sunday, April 29, 2:05 PM PT, AT&T Park TV: SportsNet LA, SNLA Spanish Radio: 570 LA Sports, KTNQ 1020 The Dodgers are 12-14 / .462 & in 4th place in the NL West after splitting yesterday's double-header. They've lost two of the first three of this four game set. After winning seven of eight, they've gone 1-4. The Giants are 13-14 / .481 & in 3rd place in the NL West. They're 5-2 over their last 7. Kenta Maeda, RHP Maeda will look to build on his last performance, when he allowed one earned run in six innings vs. Miami on Tuesday. Maeda has already pitched twice vs. the Giants this season (once in relief), allowing no earned runs in a total of six frames. www.baseball-reference.com/players/m/maedake01.shtmlwww.baseball-reference.com/players/gl.fcgi?id=maedake01&t=p&year=2018www.baseball-reference.com/play-index/batter_vs_pitcher.cgi?request=1&submitter=1&pitcher=maedake01&min_year_game=2016&max_year_game=2018&post=1&opp_id=SFG&bats=any&c1gtlt=gt&c2gtlt=gt&orderby=PA&orderby_dir=desc&orderby_second=Name&orderby_dir_second=ascTy Blach, LHP Blach only yielded one extra-base hit in his last start against Washington, but it was a costly one: a three-run homer by Michael A. April 29, 2018 8:04 am Dodgers' Corey Seager: Smokes second homer Saturday by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire Seager went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run during an 8-3 loss to the Giants in the second game of Saturday's doubleheader.
After going 2-for-5 with two RBI in the opener, Seager stayed locked in by taking Johnny Cueto deep in the first inning of the nightcap. He's now hit safely in six of his last seven games to boost his slash line to .268/.351/.402, but Seager's power numbers remain disappointing -- he's got only two home runs and 13 RBI through 25 games.

April 29, 2018 8:00 am Dodgers' Alex Wood: Takes loss in Saturday's nightcap by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire Wood (0-3) took the loss in the second game of Saturday's doubleheader against the Giants, allowing four runs on six hits and a walk over six innings while striking out four.
The left-hander got staked to a 2-0 lead before he even took the mound but couldn't make it stick, fading late after holding the Giants at bay for four innings. Wood's 30:3 K:BB in 35 innings remains very strong despite a superficially mediocre 4.11 ERA, and he'll keep looking for his first win of the season Thursday in Arizona.

April 28, 2018 11:38 pm Dodgers' Walker Buehler: Picks up first win as big-league starter by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire Buehler (1-0) picked up the win after allowing two runs on six hits and one walk across five innings in Game 1 of Saturday's doubleheader against the Giants. He struck out six.
Buehler started off shaky in this one -- allowing two runs in the first inning on a trio of singles, a walk and a wild pitch -- but he was able to settle in from there and blank the Giants over his next four innings of work. His offense helped him out with eight runs through the first three innings, so the 23-year-old was able to cruise to his first win as a major-league starter. While Buehler now owns an impressive 1.80 ERA and 11:4 K:BB through two big-league starts (11 innings) this season, he'll head back to the minors after serving as the 26th man for the doubleheader as the Dodgers look to limit his workload.

April 28, 2018 11:23 pm Dodgers' Yasiel Puig: X-rays come back clean by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire X-rays on Puig's foot came back negative, Andy McCullough of the Los Angeles Times reports.
Puig exited Game 1 of Saturday's doubleheader against the Giants in the second inning with hip soreness and an ankle injury after crashing into the outfield wall and fouling a ball off his foot. Fortunately, his hip is reportedly fine and his ankle injury is being deemed a contusion. He should be considered day-to-day.

April 28, 2018 10:00 pm Dodgers' Chase Utley: Rips three doubles Saturday by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire Utley went 4-for-5 with three doubles, a walk, four RBI and four runs scored in Game 1 of Saturday's doubleheader against the Giants.
Utley was a big part of the Dodgers' offensive outburst that helped the team score 15 runs and bring home the win. He now owns a .327 batting average and .938 OPS through 53 plate appearances this season, and should continue to see starts against right-handed hitters until Logan Forsythe (shoulder) is back in the fold.

April 28, 2018 9:32 pm Dodgers' Scott Alexander: Optioned to minors by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire Alexander was optioned to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Saturday.
Alexander was likely unavailable for Game 2 of Saturday's doubleheader against the Giants after pitching in Game 1 and during Friday's game, so the Dodgers opted to send him back to the minors in exchange for an additional outfielder with Yasiel Puig (foot) sidelined. The southpaw is off to a slow start to the season, as evidenced by his unsightly 6.35 ERA across 11.1 innings this season, but he should be back with the big club sooner than later.

April 28, 2018 9:26 pm Dodgers' Alex Verdugo: Recalled from Triple-A, starting Saturday by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire Verdugo was recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Saturday. He is starting in right field and hitting eighth against the Giants.
With Matt Kemp (quad) and Yasiel Puig (foot) dealing with minor ailments, the Dodgers decided to bring up Verdugo ahead of the second game of Saturday's twin bill. The 21-year-old prospect owns a .276/.309/.474 batting line and four homers through 81 plate appearances with Triple-A Oklahoma City this season. It's unclear if he'll stick with the big club, but he could have the opportunity to earn playing time if Puig is forced to miss any time.

April 29, 2018 9:33 am Giants' Joe Panik: Could need surgery for thumb by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire Panik, who was placed on the 10-day disabled list Saturday, could require surgery on his sprained left thumb, Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Panik will receive a second opinion in the coming days to determine the severity of the thumb injury, which he sustained while applying a tag in Friday's game against the Dodgers. The Giants have already indicated they expect Panik to be sidelined beyond the 10-day minimum even if surgery isn't deemed necessary, but any procedure would likely result in the second baseman missing more than a month. Kelby Tomlinson is expected to act as the primary replacement at the keystone in the interim, with recent callup Alen Hanson adding depth at the position.

April 29, 2018 8:12 am Giants' Austin Jackson: Drives in three Saturday by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire Jackson got the start in center field for the second game of Saturday's doubleheader against the Dodgers and went 2-for-4 with a double and three RBI in an 8-3 win.
Injuries in the Giants' outfield continue to allow Jackson to see semi-regular playing time, but the veteran hasn't done much with them, slashing .214/.253/.243 through 75 plate appearances. Both Hunter Pence (thumb) and Mac Williamson (concussion) could be back by the beginning of May, however, pushing Jackson firmly into a bench role.
Share: Twitter Facebook April 29, 2018 8:08 am Giants' Johnny Cueto: Delivers quality start in Saturday's win by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire Cueto (3-0) picked up the win in the second game of Saturday's doubleheader against the Dodgers, giving up two runs on three hits and two walks over six innings while striking out three.
He settled into a groove after Corey Seager took him deep for a two-run shot in the first inning, and while Cueto wasn't dominant he still provided his fifth straight quality start to begin the season. The right-hander will take a sparkling 0.84 ERA into his next outing Friday in Atlanta.

April 29, 2018 12:14 am Giants' Chris Stratton: Records just four outs Saturday by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire Stratton (2-2) earned the loss after allowing six runs on six hits and four walks across 1.1 innings in Game 1 of Saturday's doubleheader against the Dodgers. He struck out three.
Stratton just didn't have it in this one. He walked the first two batters of the game before back-to-back one-out singles plated a pair for the Dodgers and prompted a mound visit. Stratton walked two of the next three batters -- one of which produced a run -- before retiring Walker Buehler, the Dodgers' pitcher, to get out of the inning. Things didn't get much better in the second frame, as a Chris Taylor solo homer was followed by a double and two triples (with a strikeout in between) to put the score at 6-2 before he got the hook after recording just four outs. It was Stratton's first loss since he dropped his first outing of the season, and it raised his ERA from 2.32 to 3.90. He'll look to get back on track in his next start, which is scheduled for next Saturday against the Braves.

April 28, 2018 8:57 pm Giants' Roberto Gomez: Sent back to Triple-A by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire Gomez was optioned to Triple-A Sacramento on Saturday, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Gomez was unavailable for the second game of Saturday's doubleheader after pitching 3.1 innings of relief in Game 1, so the Giants opted to shuttle him back to the minors in exchange for a fresh bullpen arm. He owns a 7.71 ERA across five appearances (9.1 innings) with the big club this season.

April 28, 2018 2:25 pm Giants' Mark Melancon: Transferred to 60-day DL by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire Melancon (elbow) was transferred to the 60-day disabled list Saturday.
Melancon was removed from the 40-man roster in order to make room for Alen Hanson. He'll now be ineligible to return before May 25. The veteran closer recently resumed baseball activities while rehabbing his elbow strain, but he's apparently still a month away from being ready to go. Hunter Strickland remains the Giants' closer in his absence.

April 28, 2018 2:12 pm Giants' Mac Williamson: Placed on concussion DL by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire Williamson was placed on the seven-day concussion disabled list Saturday, Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Williamson suffered the concussion after crashing into a wall in Tuesday's game against the Nationals. The DL stint is retroactive to Wednesday, meaning he's eligible to return Tuesday, though as with any concussion it's difficult to know exactly when symptoms will subside. Austin Slater was recalled to take his place on the roster.

Maeda got screwed on that 2-2 pitch to Belt. Should've been strike 3 and the end of the inning. Instead, it's called a ball, loses Belt and Longoria hits one out. Not giving Kenta a pass, but he would've been out of the inning had the umpire done his job.

Is Bellinger hurt now too? Left game in the 6th. I think it was the double. It really should've been an easy triple, but for some reason didn't get out of the box very well. Also may have tweaked it on the double play. Either way, it's another injury that the Dodgers cannot afford.
