If you make it down here for a game, they sell LaRosa’s by the slice at the GAB. Might just change your opinion. Of course, it’s ridiculously priced and you can get a whole pie at one of their locations for what a couple of slices will run, but it’s as good as I’ve had anywhere, including New York City & Long Island. GO DODGERS!!! Pizza gauntlet thrown down will the taste challenge be accepted? Looks like:) JR ever thought about coming West young man and establishing a LaRosa chain lets anywhere around Westwood, West LA to down to the beach Marina Del Rey, Santa Moncia areas? I’m not sure what a franchise costs, but maybe one day they’ll make it out there. I think they have a location in Florida for all of the Cincy area snowbirds that fly south for the winter and it has performed very well. They offer three crusts - traditional, which is @ 1/4” thick pretty much throughout; super, which is a bit “fluffier” all around and especially on the edge; and pan, which is deep dish. All three are excellent, but I usually stick with the traditional. The thing about LaRosa’s is the sauce. It’s an old family recipe from old world Italy and I don’t think I’ve ever had or tasted anything like it anywhere. Sweet, but also spicy. Very “tomatoey”. Gotta get dog to try some Cincy chili, too. Skyline is the best! Also available at the GAB although 3 coneys (hot dog on bun with chili, onion, shredded cheddar cheese & mustard - I ALWAYS get mine w/o mustard) run about as much as my car payment 😝. They also have the same chili over spaghetti with cheese (3 way), add onions or beans (4 way) or onions & beans (5 way); 4 way onions is my fav. Like LaRosa’s, I believe Skyline has one or two locations in Florida. GO DODGERS!!!

Reminds me when I went deep sea fishing, awhile back in the middle of the Pacific, and galley on board was stocked with "stadium food" because all we ate was chili-dogs and chili-cheeseburgers with onions mmm...simple food, "good times and great oldies" to borrow a tag-line:)

Casa Bianca is my go to place. Pretty close to home and always great. There was one place i really liked in SilverLake called Nicky D's. Unfortunately he closed down a few years back and opened a shop in Santa Barbara. Shame.

One thing Frank was right about was the pizza at umbertos.
Gotta give credit there....
Miss that guy, the last guy who did that role was an imposter I think. Seemed different.

Went to Skyline right down the street tonight for dinner. Had a four way (spaghetti, chili, onions & cheese) & three coneys (chili over a hot dog on a bun with extra onions and cheese). VERY tasty and the BEST fountain Dr. Pepper anywhere.
Really love that place but it absolutely does not love me back.
And as much as I love and have promoted LaRosa’s pizza, they finally broke me a month or so back and I have kept to my word of never ordering from them again, which REALLY sucks because I LOVE their pizza.
But about a year a a half ago, the location we have ordered from for 20 plus years started its decline. From wrong orders, to excessive waits to overcooked pizzas, my biggest pet peeve!
They are very quick to refund on errors, but it was getting to the point that I was having to request one just about half the time. And we averaged at least an order per week.
I like my pizza cheese to be hot and primarily white to yellow in colour. A light brown spot here or there isn’t a big deal. But I kept getting pizza after pizza that was WAY over cooked and the cheese basically ALL brown.
It makes the cheese hard and chewy and if there’s any left over, pretty much impossible to warm up because the cheese gets cooked even more.
I finally complained enough that the owner of the store herself called me. After a short discussion, she admitted she too preferred her pizzas cooked like me, but unfortunately the bulk of their customers preferred them “over cooked” so much to the point that they were forced to turn their ovens higher than normal standards to make them that way.
Her solution was to have my phone number put on a dedicated line and then after ordering either by phone or app (which I prefer), I could call this number and ask the supervisor to call the store to advise them not to overcook my pie.
This worked for probably the next four or five orders, but then they once again “screwed the pooch”.
We put in an order at around 7:00 pm with a delivery time estimate of 30 - 40 minutes, which is pretty much the norm.
I made my usual call to a “supervisor” who I might as well have been speaking Russian to because she didn’t seem to have a clue as to what I was asking her to do and I’m fairly certain she didn’t bother to follow thru on.
50 minutes pass and still no delivery. I called the supervisor number again and was advised our order had “left the store and was on the way”.
I advised I’d be more than surprised if it was even luke warm by the time it got here. Oh yeah - the restaurant is about five minutes at best from my home and that’s if you hit all FIVE traffic lights on the way.
Food arrives 75 minutes after order, I give the guy $36 cash which includes a $6 + tip I committed to at the time of ordering. He hands me the pie and I can tell immediately it’s barely warm; my wife’s hoagie and Saratoga chips are pretty much the same.
I open the lid and this thing looks like it’s been sitting and spinning in one of those self-serve trays for a couple of hours you see in a gas station. COMPLETELY brown and completely inedible.
I called and made the moron bring me back my cash and ripped the supervisor a new one. Haven’t patronized them since.
GO DODGERS!!!

Made our first visit to a different LaRosa’s Saturday night. Due to dining constrictions mandated by our communist governor, we only had an hour, but it was well spent.
This is one of the few locations that has a bar, so we were able to throw down a couple of large drafts while there.
I explained to the waitress about our last few delivery experiences from their location right up the street from our home and she and the kitchen responded with what could only be described as the PERFECT pie.
Cheese was hot and white, with slight tints of yellow and a few light brown spots. It was “stringy” as I pulled each slice from the other, the crust was crisp on the outer edge and soft under the cheese, sauce and pepperoni.
Restored my faith in one of my favourite Cincy haunts. Now, if only I could get the same pie from my local store! At least we have an alternate we can count on only one exit away.
GO DODGERS!!!

I really love bagels & cream cheese. Usually I put some meat in there too. Particularly pork products.

I got some Hot Pockets a couple weeks ago. First time. I was left wondering why people eat this shit. It's beyond bland. Just now I put pepperonis, hot sauce, parmesan cheese & crushed red pepper on one. Dayam! I'm getting more.

Okay - I just have to know. Has anyone been to a game this year at Dodger Stadium and had one of the new Dodger Dogs?
I was a HUGE fan of the Farmer John version (grilled, of course!); but I was wondering if the new manufacturer was able to copy the blend and flavour of the originals?

I thought they went to hell under McCourt. That's when they started boiling them.

I was a HUGE fan of the Farmer John version (grilled, of course!); but I was wondering if the new manufacturer was able to copy the blend and flavour of the originals? GO DODGERS!!! Not yet. I thought they went to hell under McCourt. That's when they started boiling them. I had heard about the boiling and always stayed clear of those stands that didn’t grill them. Got them at the left field stand during the Red Sox WS and they were damn tasty that night. I was right there when Puig untied Game 4 with a blast that direction. Our joy was quickly turned to sorrow an inning or so later when DDF II pulled Hill after seven strong innings and 76 pitches to insert an overused, worn and weary bullpen that proceeded to not only give away this game, but also change the momentum back to Boston which cost us the series and title. I don’t know how Kersh would have pitched the next day had the series been tied, but we saw and know what he is capable of when motivated and who knows? Boston certainly would have been feeling a bit more pressure blowing a 2 - 0 lead in the series and being tied with the possibility of going back East down 3 - 2 and having to win two more games at home. Damn, that would have been a LOT cooler to see than the Dead Sox celebrating on our field. STILL glad we made the trip, though. The stadium was simply electric both nights! GO DODGERS!!!
